American night
After i last blogged, i had summed up the weekend. the rest of sunday was truly relaxing in the sun. julie, bruce, anna, and i all played doubles tennis. well, let's just say we were in the doubles formation. we don't keep score over here. hey, we don't even know what time it is so why should we have rigid score keeping rules, right? it was tons of fun! then it was time to gather together with the whole ashburn family and with jerry for an evening of American food, fun and worship!
Mary had made pizza from scratch, yes even the dough! it's a sunday ritual for them, but it was a special treat for julie and i. honestly, anything homemade is a treat! After dinner, we continued their sunday night ritual by having a time of American worship. we all sat around the tv actually and they put in a dvd of american worship songs that even had the subtitles set against the background of majestic sites in america. we sang those songs together and then had prayer request time. i prayed for jana, my friend back in austin, who i grew up with in church who has encephalitis and for a miraculous recovery for her. i also prayed for my jr high and high school missions director of Acteens, Jan Sutton, who is recovering from uterine cancer and undergoing multiple radiation treatments. please lift these two ladies up! they truly need supernatural healing. dr. tom said we should pray "thai style." i forgot what that meant, so i asked and he said, "you know where everyone prays out loud at once for a request." got it! so we all lifted our voices up in unison, this time all in english and prayed for the specific prayer requests we offered to pray for. i was honored for jana and jan that they were being prayed for all the way over in thailand. i know God will honor it too!
then it was a cold shower by choice for me. it really is getting hot here. i read a little bit of that medical jurisprudence book and headed for bed. what a great weekend and what a great way to end it!
