Our long walk
After clinic ended on Tuesday, i took a nice long nap for 2 hours! i guess i am still catching up on the past 4 years of med school. julie woke me up, if she hadn't i would have still been sleeping. oh by the way, i never told you how our sleep went on the flight to thailand. the long leg was from LA to Hong Kong for 14 hours. i slept all natural for 13 hours without any aid of medicines. julie took medicines to sleep and only slept for 4 hours! she was so mad at her body. she joked that it is no fair that i have an internal sleeping pill built into me. it's true. i think genetically my mom and amy would agree! :)
so after the nap- we got up to get the juices going and took a great walk down the road almost all the way to the summit of the foothill of the mountains. it was a hike. we walked for 1 and a half hours. that was pretty good for the first time. it had rained the night before so things were actually cool. i have to tell you about the children we saw as we walked by their houses. they would run to the fronts of their yards and get so excited with smiles on their faces and some would say "thank you" or "hello" whatever english words they knew. how cute! they would cover their faces with their hands with shyness when we would say "hi" back to them. everyone driving by on their moto bikes would stare at us. everyone! you would be surprised at how many people can fit on a small motorcycle, i.e. a baby in front, a mom, a dad, and two kids behind them! yes, i saw several like that. near the summit was an overlook onto a village below and we could hear the conversations in the distance as well as make out rooftops and the buddhist temple by it's elaborate gold. wow, another reality check of where we were. we are in thailand! after our walk back, we got nice showers and had dinner with the ashburns again. our routine is to have lunch with jerry and dinner with the ashburns. oh my goodness, let me tell you about how great thai food is. it is just like nit noi back at home if not better. i just can't believe it's the real deal. spicy, yes, but i like spice. after dinner, we went to bed.
